Omar Perry Biography

Omar Perry is a Jamaican promising and conscious singjay. Born in 1968 in Kingston, Jamaica, he started his musical career very early recording at 6 and even appears on ‘Thanks We Get’ by Junior Byles. He raised not far from his father’ Black Ark studio and began music learning drums. In the late 1980’s, Omar Perry formed ‘The Upsetters Juniors’ with his brother Sean and his sister Marsha. After leaving the band in 1990 he worked as a sound engineer. In 1996, he left for Gambia where he spread reggae vibes giving concerts and run radio shows until 2000. Back from Africa, Omar Perry released some singles for various label as his great ‘Rasta Meditation’ produced by Adrian Sherwood in 2003 or ‘Work’ featuring Mighty Massa released on Trash and Ready Records in 2006. 2007 marks the release of his debut album ‘Man Free’ out on Corner Shop.
