Reggae Rebel
Life of Peter Toshby Chris Salewicz
Biography
Peter Tosh was an original Wailer, a founder member of the trio of reggae musicians that launched the career of Bob Marley. But while Marley went on to fame and iconic status, Peter Tosh was marginalized, largely thorugh his uncompromising politics and flirtation with the Jamaican underworld. After leaving the Wailers he was signed to the Rolling Stones own record label and produced a series of solo albums, including the much acclaimed "Legalise It", which referred to the legilization of cannabis. Tosh was murdered in a gunfight at his home in 1987. This biography does not flinch at the controversial aspects of his subject and seeks to find out the truth about Tosh's extraordinary life - and death. It should also cast new light on Tosh's edgy relationship with Bob Marley, the many women in his life, and his "gangsta" status.
